Meals During Virtual Learning

Meals During Virtual Learning
Posted on 11/18/2020
We will no longer be offering meal pick-up at the elementary and middle school sites starting Monday, January 18th. Families will be able to pick up meals at any of the 3 high schools on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. When families drive up to the school for meal pick up, staff will ask if you are picking up for hybrid students (3 days of meals) or virtual students (5 days of meals) and how many students you have. There is no pre-order needed for this pick-up time.

As a reminder, all breakfast and lunch meals are free for students at AASD this year due to the USDA waiver, in-person, or virtual. Only a complete meal is free for students. Milk will be available for students to purchase for $0.35.  Students can bring change or use funds from their lunch accounts to purchase milk.  Milk is not free because it is not a complete meal.

How to participate in the free meal program
To pick up daily meals at elementary and middle school sites families need to pre-order meals using the Nutrislice website or mobile app (Apple App Store or Google Play). Create an account for each child in Nutrislice. You do not have to be an enrolled student to register.

After downloading the app, type AASD into the search box. Then click on Appleton Area SD. Create a Nutrislice account for your students using the Nutrislice website or mobile app. In the upper right corner, click on the three lines and click "Log In". When a breakfast or lunch entree meal is ordered, all sides listed below it in Nutrislice will be included.

Please submit separate orders for each child. Those unable to utilize Nutrislice can call in meal orders: 920-832-1719 (requires additional processing time).

Students Participating in Classroom Connection
Those attending programs through BGC or YMCA at school sites are included in the free meal program. Breakfast and lunch meals will be prepared and served on site in a very similar manner as a normal school year but with enhanced safety measures in place. If students participate in the on-site lunch program they will have the option of a grab and go breakfast and lunch options similar to previous school years. Students can also bring in their own lunch if they choose.

Find out if you qualify for Free and Reduced Meals here.

We encourage all families to apply. This is also required annually for students that have qualified in the previous year. Applications are accepted throughout the school year whenever you experience a change in your household.

For more information, please contact the Food Service office at 920-832-1719.

*Meals that are distributed through the Meal Pick-up option will be provided a full meal, entrée, all sides (including fruit and vegetable) and milk. There will not be an option to decline any components of the meal.
